Every molecule in your body is sourced from food,
meaning the food you choose to eat can make or break your health.
Hi! I am Linda the founder of Nutrition Muse. Losing my father to heart disease when I was 22 years old, was a turning point in my education. Dad and I shared a love of nature and science, and frequently discussed nutrition as we adopted the Pritikin Diet together, and explored biofeedback and mind body medicine. Nutrition became my focus and life work, leading me to practice functional nutrition. Functional nutrition focuses on finding the root cause of disease while addressing the needs for optimal health. Using the premise that 'every molecule in your body is sourced from food' , I believe food is the very foundation for health. I'm an avid suburban gardener because knowing where my food comes from is very important to me. Lettuces, peppers, peas, lemons, berries, and herbs are my favorite things to grow.
Much of my career has been spent in wellness, working at world-renowned spas Rancho La Puerta in Tecate, Mexico, Rancho Valencia Resort and Spa in Rancho Santa Fe, California, Cal-a-Vie Health Spa, and guest lecturer at Premier Fitness Camp at La Costa Resort. Currently, I am the Director of Nutrition at Lifewellness Institute in Point Loma, CA where I work with a team to deliver lifestyle medicine.
At Lifewellness Institute, I provide corporate wellness lectures, private nutrition consultations, conduct food sensitivity and nutrition testing, and advise on safe supplementation. Working with Executive Chefs, I advise on nutritional aspects of meal and recipe development and how to best communicate the nutritional benefits of featured cuisine. My skill in translating technical health information into actionable nutritional guidance has lead me to development of specific nutrition literature for various clients, blog posts, presentations, and handouts using current scientific evidence with relevance to client health and interest.
I received a B.S. from California State University Long Beach and completed a one year dietetic internship at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI, recognized for its innovation in cardiac care. I am currently enrolled in the Integrative Health and Lifestyle Program at the University of Arizona, Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine where I am deepening my understanding of integrative health. Maintaining memberships in Dietitians in Functional Medicine, Sports and Cardiovascular Nutrition practice groups of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the American Society for Nutrition, American Botanical Society (herbal medicine), and the California Dietetic Association helps me stay well informed on nutrition matters.
Serving in my community is important to me. I am a currently a Board Advisor to Grandma Lulu's Table, a plant based nutrition and activity program for underserved children. To help Grandma Lulu's Table meet the needs of this special population, I provide recipe and menu support to the chefs, develop educational handouts, and video engagement for our clients. I've provided past support for Home Start, a child abuse prevention and treatment program that focuses on providing housing and education for at risk mothers and children. Support included nutrition seminars, educational materials, and raising funds to provide family oriented healthy cookbooks to these young moms. An avid dog lover, I fundraise for Puppies Behind Bars and Second Chance Dog Rescue. Our family has 2 rescue pups who take long hikes every day in the canyon and love frequent beach trips for water play.
